3. Provision of the Website and Creation of Log Files

a) Subject Matter and Purpose of the Processing of Personal Data

Every time you visit this website, an exchange of information between your device—such as your computer, tablet, or mobile phone—and the servers hosting the website is technically necessary to establish communication between your device and this website. Additionally, whenever you access the website, data regarding this process is temporarily processed and stored in a log file. Specifically, the following data is collected:

  • Date and time of access
  • User’s IP address
  • Request details and destination address
  • Name of the file accessed
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Notification of whether the access/retrieval was successful
  • Information about the browser type and version used
  • Information about the user’s operating system
  • The user’s Internet service provider
  • Websites from which the user’s system accessed the website www.nelus-network.eu
  • Information about the web pages and files accessed

The log data is processed to ensure the proper operation of the websites, i.e., to detect, limit, or eliminate malfunctions or errors.

In addition, the log data is processed for technical security purposes, in particular to protect against and defend against cyberattacks. This is done on the basis of Art. 6(1)(c) and Art. 32(1) of the GDPR.

b) Legal basis for the processing of personal data

The temporary storage of data for technical communication and log files is based on Article 6(1)(e) and (3) of the GDPR in conjunction with Section 3(1) of the DSG NRW and Section 3 of the HG NRW.

c) Data erasure and retention period

The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. This is usually the case after seven (please adjust) days at the latest. Storage beyond this period is possible. In this case, users’ IP addresses will be deleted or anonymized so that the client from which the request originated can no longer be identified.

b) Legal basis for the processing of personal data

This processing serves to fulfill the university’s tasks and is carried out in accordance with Art. 6(1)(e) and (3) of the GDPR in conjunction with § 3(1) of the DSG NRW and § 3(1) of the HG NRW.

c) Data deletion and retention period

We delete the personal data we receive via email or contact form, or that we collect based on your postal submission, as soon as storage is no longer necessary for the purpose you pursued or in connection with the resulting administrative processes and the applicable retention obligations. The retention period for an administrative process is ten years after the last entry has been processed. The retention period in connection with the exercise of data subject rights is 3 years.

5. Use of External Services: YouTube

The website www.nelus-network.eu uses plugins from the Google-operated site YouTube. The operator of the site is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit one of our pages equipped with a YouTube plugin, a connection is established to YouTube’s servers. In doing so, the YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you allow YouTube to directly associate your browsing activity with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. 6. Rights of the data subject

If personal data of the data subject is processed, he or she is entitled to the following rights vis-à-vis the controller.

Pursuant to Articles 15 et seq. of the GDPR, the data subject has the right, under the conditions defined therein, to request from the controller information regarding the personal data in question, as well as the right to rectification, erasure, or restriction of processing, the right to object to processing, and the right to data portability. Furthermore, pursuant to Article 77 of the GDPR, the data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority (https://www.ldi.nrw.de/kontakt) if the data subject believes that the processing of personal data concerning him or her violates this Regulation. If the processing is based on the data subject’s consent (see Art. 6(1)(a), Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), he or she also has the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent prior to its withdrawal; this withdrawal takes effect only for the future.
