The University School project aims to establish an innovative four-year upper-secondary school founded by a university. The school is conceived as a space where high-quality secondary education is closely connected to teacher education and educational research.
The project responds to the growing demand for general education and to the academic potential of the region. Its key ambition is to support deep understanding, student engagement, and learning in meaningful interdisciplinary and real-world contexts.
Innovative teaching will be supported by carefully planned, school-embedded professional development for teachers. The project builds on the idea of collective teacher efficacy, fostering shared responsibility for teaching quality, student learning, and continuous improvement.

A defining feature of the school will be its close and systematic collaboration between school teachers and university-based researchers. This cooperation will be grounded in participatory research, with long-term research plans co-developed by teachers and academics. The school will establish its own research board and support sustained collaboration on teaching and research at the institutional level.
Intensive cooperation will also be embedded in teaching practice placements. A faculty-based reflection facilitator will be part of the school’s organisational team, enabling continuous, on-site reflective support rather than only occasional supervisory meetings.
The project is currently at an early stage of development. The opening of the school is planned for September 2028.
